Abstract

Since Nokia's filed a patent complaint against Apple in 2009, Apple has begun filing patent lawsuits against its rivals, such as Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, and HTC and the patent war between Apple and HTC is the most prominent one. This report offers insight into the reasons behind patent wars initiated by international branded vendors in order to outrun their competitors and profiles the corresponding measures that those competitors have or should have implemented to defense themselves or stand out from competition.
